Jakub Markiel
(Lodz July 20, 1911 - 2008 Paris)
Jacob Markiel started his artistic studies with Isaac Brauner's drawing courses and later enrolled in the School of Fine Arts in Krakow. In 1933, he was awarded a scholarship that allowed him to go in Paris. The sculptor N. Aronson introduced him to the Baron de Rothschild. Few years later, he won the third prize from the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris and studied at the studio of Jean Souverbie where he met again his friend and artist Sam Ringer. After World War II, he returned to France where he was welcomed by Isaac Dobrinsky to devote himself to painting.
