Artur Przebindowski
(Chrzanow 1967 - )

Born in 1967 in Chrzanów. Graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Krakow (diploma under prof. Roman Banaszewski in 1993). In 1998 he received the Grand Prix at the “Shower- Birth of Pleasure” painting competition in Bad Zwischenahn, in 2010 the Grand Prix of the Minister of Culture and National Heritage at the Polish Contemporary Painting Festival in Szczecin; and in 2011 the Distinction and the Viewers’ Choice Award at the Painting Biennial Bielska Jesień.
Since 1995 he has been presenting his work regularly at exhibitions in Poland and abroad. His work centres around thought through construction of the image, multi-layered painting, penetration and the completion of many perspectives and plans. Visually attractive fragments of the urban space become for the artist an excuse to create autonomous arrangements of artistic signs, whose effects are strengthened by the multiplication and compositional procedures. His paintings are also characterised by sensitivity to sensual qualities of the work, such as colour and light.
Artur Przebindowski is the author of twenty individual exhibitions, among others frequent exhibitions at Kersten Gallery in Krakow, at Tamka Gallery in Warsaw (2006), Arttrakt Gallery in Wrocław (2012), the exhibition accompanying the XXII Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin (2008), and also the “Megalopolis” series shown at the BWA Gallery in Bielsko and in the Regional Society for the Encouragement of Fine Arts “Konduktorownia” in Częstochowa (2011).
In 1998-2004 the artist participated in numerous painting workshops in Poland, and abroad, including Germany, Italy, and Greece. He has taken part in art fairs - The Boxam Galleries at The Affordable Art Fair in London (2004), Warsaw (2009), HanseArt in Bremen (2011), Art Event, Namur in Belgium (2011), Kunst en Living in Rotterdam (2011), as well as auctions of Polish contemporary art, among others in the Consulate General in New York (2004, 2006) and at the Museum of Japanese Art and Technology Manggha.
He has participated in many painting competitions and festivals: Bielska Jesień at BWA Gallery in Bielsko (1995, 1997, 2011), The Triennial of Small Graphic Forms at the Wozownia Art Gallery in Toruń (1997, 2007), the Festival of Polish Contemporary Painting in Szczecin (1996, 2006, 2008, 2010). He has taken part in group exhibitions, including The Old Guardhouse (Stara Kordegarda) in Warsaw (1996), Polish - Japanese Miyauchi Foundation’s show in Tokyo (1996); Ten Artists From Poland at the Cultural Centre in Athens (2000), and the exhibition Into Europe, New Art for the New Reality at Bloxham Gallery in London (2004).
